About Axis Within.
Understanding the Bigger Picture.
Axis Within Psychology supports women navigating anxiety, burnout, ADHD-related challenges, emotional overwhelm, and the increasing mental load that often accompanies modern life.
Many women seeking support appear highly capable externally while privately struggling with chronic stress, emotional exhaustion, perfectionism, overwhelm, or the sense that life has become increasingly difficult to manage.
We provide evidence-based psychological support tailored to the realities many women face across careers, relationships, caregiving responsibilities, emotional labour, health concerns, and major life transitions.
Areas of focus include:
High-functioning anxiety and chronic worry
Burnout and emotional exhaustion
ADHD in women
Emotional regulation difficulties
Emotional eating patterns
Chronic stress and overwhelm
Perimenopause and midlife mental health
Axis Within Psychology was founded on the belief that support should feel practical, personalised, psychologically informed, and realistic within the demands of everyday life.
About Anna Kelm.
Anna is a Registered Psychologist with a background in nutrition, wellness coaching, and behaviour change, bringing a practical and psychologically informed approach to supporting women’s mental health and wellbeing.
Before transitioning into psychology, Anna worked in highly demanding corporate environments and spent over a decade supporting clients across nutrition, wellness coaching, exercise physiology, and behaviour change. This broader professional background shaped her understanding of the relationship between stress, lifestyle, sleep, physical wellbeing, and emotional health.
Through this work, Anna observed that many women were often offered fragmented support that did not fully address the broader picture. While areas such as nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress, or mental health may have been addressed individually, the underlying emotional patterns, overwhelm, perfectionism, emotional eating patterns, self-sabotaging behaviours, or difficulty sustaining change long-term often remained unresolved.
This shaped Anna’s interest in understanding why sustainable change can feel so difficult for overwhelmed women, particularly when emotional wellbeing, stress, lifestyle demands, and mental load are all interacting at the same time. Her approach focuses not only on what needs to change, but also on helping women understand the psychological and emotional factors that can make change difficult to maintain in everyday life.
Anna understands the realities many women face trying to juggle careers, relationships, families, routines, health concerns, and the constant mental load that comes with modern life. She understands that many women do not necessarily need another person telling them to "slow down", "eat less and exercise more", or "take better care of themselves". More often, they need space to feel understood while developing strategies that genuinely fit the reality of their lives.
She has a particular interest in helping women create more sustainable ways of functioning day-to-day by reducing overwhelm, simplifying routines, developing supportive systems, and helping life feel more manageable again.
In addition to therapy, Anna provides comprehensive psychological assessments for adults, including ADHD assessments, cognitive assessments, educational assessments, and assessments for Specific Learning Disorders. Her assessment approach combines evidence-based testing with detailed clinical formulation to provide clear, practical recommendations tailored to each individual's needs.
Anna has particular interests in supporting women navigating:
High-functioning anxiety and burnout
Emotional overload and chronic stress
ADHD
Perimenopause and midlife mental health
Perfectionism, people-pleasing, and over-functioning patterns
Anna has previously contributed to Australian health and wellbeing media, with commentary featured across publications relating to women’s wellbeing, behaviour change, and mental health.
Her approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based, grounded in the belief that support should feel practical, personalised, and genuinely helpful in the context of everyday life.
Her work focuses on helping women make sense of what they are experiencing while creating practical and sustainable ways of moving forward.
Anna consults from New Farm Wellness Centre in New Farm, Brisbane and also provides secure Telehealth appointments for adults throughout Australia.
