ADHD Assessments Brisbane
Comprehensive ADHD Assessments for Adults
If you've spent years feeling as though everyday life is harder than it should be—frequently forgetting things, struggling to stay organised, procrastinating, feeling overwhelmed by everyday tasks, or wondering why others seem to cope more easily—a comprehensive ADHD assessment can help determine whether Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) may be contributing to your experiences.
At Axis Within Psychology, comprehensive adult ADHD assessments are conducted by Anna Kelm, Registered Psychologist. The assessment process includes a thorough clinical evaluation, evidence-based assessment measures, detailed feedback, and a comprehensive written report. Where appropriate, you will also receive an ADHD diagnosis together with personalised recommendations for next steps.
ADHD is increasingly recognised in adulthood, particularly among women whose symptoms may have been overlooked or misunderstood during childhood. For many adults, receiving an assessment later in life provides long-awaited clarity and a better understanding of lifelong patterns of attention, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and organisation.
Who Is An ADHD Assessment Suitable For?
ADHD presents differently from person to person. A comprehensive assessment considers your developmental history, current functioning, and the ways ADHD symptoms may be affecting different areas of your life, including work, study, relationships, and everyday responsibilities.
An ADHD assessment may be appropriate if you experience:
Difficulty sustaining attention or concentration
Chronic disorganisation
Forgetfulness and losing important items
Procrastination and difficulty following through on tasks
Time management difficulties
Restlessness or feeling mentally "busy"
Emotional regulation difficulties
Difficulty managing competing demands
Workplace or study challenges
A lifelong sense of feeling different, overwhelmed, or as though life requires significantly more effort than it seems to for others
Many adults seek assessment after recognising patterns that have been present throughout their lives but were never previously identified. Others seek an assessment after a GP, psychiatrist, family member, or workplace has suggested that ADHD may be contributing to their challenges.
What Does an ADHD Assessment Involve?
The assessment process includes:
Two 90-120 minute assessment consultations
One 50-minute feedback consultation
Comprehensive clinical interview
Developmental and psychosocial history
Review of current functioning and presenting concerns
Administration and interpretation of standardised assessment measures
Depending on your individual presentation, the assessment may include:
Structured ADHD diagnostic interviews
ADHD symptom rating scales
Executive functioning assessments
Broader mental health screening measures
Collateral information from partners, family members, or other relevant informants where appropriate
The specific assessment battery is tailored to each individual's presentation and clinical needs.
Adult ADHD Diagnosis Brisbane
A comprehensive ADHD assessment provides a thorough evaluation to determine whether an ADHD diagnosis is appropriate and whether ADHD may be contributing to difficulties with attention, executive functioning, emotional regulation, organisation, and everyday functioning.
Many adults seek an ADHD assessment later in life after years of wondering why everyday tasks feel more difficult than they seem to for others. A comprehensive ADHD assessment explores whether your experiences are consistent with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) while also considering other factors that may contribute to attention, executive functioning, and emotional regulation.
Where appropriate, the assessment process may support an ADHD diagnosis together with clear recommendations for ongoing treatment, workplace or study accommodations, and psychological therapy.

Following completion of the assessment, you will receive:
A detailed explanation of assessment findings and outcomes
Diagnostic impressions where appropriate
Practical recommendations and next steps

Looking for Therapy After Your ADHD Assessment?
Receiving an ADHD diagnosis is often the beginning rather than the end of the journey. While many people find that understanding their ADHD brings a sense of relief and validation, it can also raise new questions about how ADHD affects work, relationships, emotional regulation, executive functioning, and everyday life.
Many adults benefit from ongoing psychological therapy to better understand their unique ADHD profile, develop practical strategies, and build sustainable habits that support long-term wellbeing.
If you're seeking ongoing support following your assessment, therapy appointments are available both in person at New Farm Wellness Centre and via secure Telehealth Australia-wide.
Book an Initial Consultation
The Adult ADHD assessment process begins with an initial consultation, which forms part of the overall assessment process.
During this appointment, we will discuss your current concerns, developmental history, day-to-day functioning, and whether a comprehensive ADHD assessment is appropriate for your individual circumstances.
If you decide to proceed with a comprehensive ADHD assessment, the fee for the initial consultation will be deducted from the total assessment fee.
